Maurice River Township · Visitor Guide

Visiting & Lodging

One of South Jersey’s strongest nature-and-maritime destinations, with East Point Light, Wild and Scenic rivers, working waterfronts, bird migration, remote bay beaches and quiet river villages.

Signature destination

East Point Lighthouse

Built in 1849 in Heislerville, East Point Lighthouse is the last remaining lighthouse on Cumberland County’s Delaware Bayshore and remains an active navigational aid. The surrounding marsh and bay landscape is also a major birding and photography destination.

Millville & Vineland Hotels

For conventional chain lodging and a larger choice of services, Millville and Vineland are the most practical nearby hotel centers.

Nature-trip planning: East Point, Thompson’s Beach and the marsh areas can have intense insects, tidal flooding, limited cell service and very few amenities. Carry water, use insect protection, check tides and weather, and respect closures or habitat restrictions.
